Life hangs on by a thread

We were planning the last death rite ceremony for my Dad just after Christmas. It can be done between 9 months and one year after death. Although the most important person is the son, who has to perform all funeral rites for his parents, we had planned it now as we will all be together. Once I go back home at the end of December, I'm not flying anymore because of my pregnancy.

We won't be having the ceremony for my Dad just after Christmas. The local Hindu priest, who performed the other death rites for my Dad, was in a car accident last week. The car slipped on black ice in the early morning and went into the path of an articulated truck. His wife was killed instantly and he is in a coma on a ventilator in intensive care.

His three children are aged 16, 14 and 8. They weren't in the car. They already had to attend their mother's funeral without their father.

Life can be so shocking sometimes. Hanging on by a thread. One minute you are in one reality and the next you're somewhere completely different and totally alien, no choice, this is the way it is now.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported me this year through the blog. Your comments and emails have meant a great deal to me. Friends "in the internet" who have been present when friends IRL were not.

From July 2006 to July 2007 was the most difficult year of my life. I have been through times when I wanted my life here to end - at first so I could join V. and be with him, but later just so that it, I, could be oblivious. But I am still alive.

I hope it remains the most difficult year of my life forever and that I never have another one that is harder.

Feeling Low

Sorry I have been MIA for a few weeks. I am on vacation (with work laptop) until the end of the year and had a hectic time trying to get everything finished before I left.

I'm now in the UK at my mum's house and feeling low.

I had Braxton Hicks yesterday and found it quite nerve-wracking. They made me think of A's birth (the last time I had contractions) and the anguish I felt.

I have intermittent sacroiliac joint pain, sometimes so bad that I can hardly put weight on my right leg. My mum is also feeling low and we're both giving off poor vibes to each other. The last time I saw my dad alive was at Christmas last year. I'm not feeling good about spending time with my nephew or about picking up foetus-killing germs from my brother's children in general.

In general I've been working hard and now I'm on holiday I have seemingly let go to succumb / wallow in low emotional energy and self pity.

At least my mum is feeding me properly. My appetite has shot up.

20 weeks

The check up went okay and no problems detected :-)
It seems I only make one type of baby.
I just hope that this doesn't extend to the "does not live outside the womb" characteristic as well.

*** Post title corrected to say 20 weeks instead of 20 months. A 20 month pregnancy is really not something I could handle psychologically or physically.

Stress

Tomorrow morning I have my 20 week morphology check. I feel vaguely reassured by the fact that I saw my own OB last week and she didn't find anything alarming on the ultrasound she did. However, clearly the specialist has a state of the art u/s machine with blood circulation measurement capabilities.

I'm also a little stressed by the fact that on Tuesday DH is making a short business trip to Egypt. Along with about 50 other people from his company. It's just an underlying background type of stress I have in case something happens to him.

Blog Award

Coggy nominated me for a Blogger Flame of Fortitude. Thanks Coggy!
I nominate M as she winds her way through much crappy stress and Kate as she mothers five children, of which four here on this earth and two baby twins with great fortitude.
