I hope everyone manages to get some rest and peace in among the frenzy that is Christmas these days. Most of us are remembering little ones who should be celebrating with wide eyes but are not with us.
I am so grateful to have Beanie with us - our first Christmas with a child. Traditional with annoying mother-in-law (her heart is good but man it's wrapped up in some annoying wrapping paper) and my own mother with flu and arguments over how equally the effort of making Christmas dinner is shared.
Beanie gave me chicken pox for Christmas, the first spots arrived on Christmas Eve and now I am completely covered, just starting to get itchy. I was just starting to feel a teency bit smug about having an ultra strong immune system when bam! About 16 days after Beanie first got it.
The on-call doctor came to see me at home on Christmas Day within 20 minutes of my call. How good is that? My much anticipated return to work will be delayed by at least one week. Let's see how it goes - a bit of a miserable holiday for DH though. He (the doctor, not DH) checked with the state hospital - no antiviral is given here unless you're already an at risk patient (immunosuppressed) or a smoker, of which I am neither.
So I didn't make it to V and A's lake as I wanted to today, what with making dinner and seeing the doctor and the in-laws arriving etc. But I miss you both and I miss you Dad.
